Moving Up To Funny Bugs Classes
Moving Up To Funny Bugs Classes
We understand this transitional period of starting back or starting a new class can be tricky. Having a break from the gym, moving up to an independent class, starting nursery, any life changes can impact on the transition, and that’s ok!
Our instructors have weekly training on how to settle classes, comfort and communicate with children of all ages and identify ways of getting your little one to interact with the session. They will work closely with you for however long it takes to settle your child in the class. NO MATTER HOW LONG!
The Little Gym has tried and tested methods to help this transition. Please trust your instructors, they have the knowledge and have most likely dealt with these types of issues hundreds of times. In order for our instructors to be able to achieve this and for your child to get the most out of their session we have put some guidelines in place for you as parents to follow.
Expectations of you as a parent:
Please do not open and shut the door – This gives your child the option to leave the gym and is not a proactive way of settling into the class. It also creates a health and safety issue. If the door needs to be opened the instructors will do so.
If you have to be in the gym for settling purposes, we need you to be the most boring thing in the gym. If your child sees you being entertaining, talking with other parents or trying to take part in the class, this will distract them from their teachers, create further issues for class management and prolong the settling period.
If your child needs to sit with you at the side that’s ok! Your teachers will aim to build a relationship with both you and your child to help create trust so your Funny Bug will eventually want to join in the fun.
If you have had to be inside the gym, once your child has settled please enjoy your session from the lobby. Our goal is to get your child confident enough to participate in an independent class. We have complimentary tea and coffee outside for you too! 😉
Expectations of your Funny Bug:
Our number 1 goal is to get your child moving. Moving means they are learning and developing. When using the equipment in the gym we have small ratios of 1:6. This means more turns, lots of individual teaching and big skill growth.
It’s ok if your child is not the life and sole of the party in the gym. Each child will take their own time to build relationships with teachers and the other children, learn the structure, be comfortable with the skills taught and in turn feel safe, confident and comfortable enough to trust their teachers.
There is no forced fun! If your child does not want to do sections of the class, this is normal. We can progress, regress and change anything that is not working for them.
No socks in the gym! This is for developmental and health and safety purposes. Your child will be taking part in independent exploration of our equipment circuits, no socks will help to avoid any slipping and better grip for climbing.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these guidelines or your class please do not hesitate to contact us on 01582 712423 or email harpenden@thelittlegym.co.uk
We look forward to seeing you for your next Funny Bugs class.
